Welcome to the new school year! We hope everyone enjoyed their summer break.
Registration is now open for the following two tournaments. Please note that we have increased the entry fee and discount amounts from last year.
(1) Saturday, September 23 – Sacramento Fall HS Tournament @ Davis HS. This competition uses NAQT IS-222 for the Varsity Division and IS-221A for the JV division. Register here
(2) Saturday, September 23 – Sacramento Fall MS Tournament @ Churchill. This competition uses NAQT MS-47 for both the Varsity and JV divisions. Register here
Bay Area teams are welcome to compete at both events; it is unlikely that any of the three sets will be used at a Bay Area tournament.
We are hoping to run the Bay Area Fall Novice Tournament in October – stay tuned for details.
We are tentatively planning to run one of the Cal Cup tournaments on Saturday, November 18; we are not yet sure if there will be a second Cal Cup tournament in the Fall. Stay tuned for more information.
We expect the first Bay Area Middle School Tournament to take place in November or December (again, please stay tuned for more details).
The full calendar of events will be posted on our website here; check back periodically for updates.

Bellarmine has indicated that they are no longer able to host in-person this upcoming Saturday, April 22; we look forward to hosting at Bellarmine again next school year.
We have decided that the best option is to reschedule to Saturday, May 20 and run the tournament online (probably Discord). I know this is sub-optimal timing (finals season, right before HSNCT, etc.) but there aren’t (m)any other good dates remaining this school year and we believe that May 20 will have a better staff situation.
Teams that are already in the field that are no longer able to compete are asked to cancel their team registration via the NAQT system. Teams are still welcome to provide moderators/scorekeepers but there will be no buzzer discount.

There are two upcoming middle school tournaments – both using NAQT MS #44
(1) Dec 3 – Sacramento Tournament at Olympus Junior High in Roseville. Details are here
(2) Dec 17 – Bay Area Tournament at Bellarmine College Prep in San Jose. Details are here
Both competitions feature separate JV/Varsity teams. Teams that are new to middle school quiz bowl should play in the JV division and will receive a discount on their entry fee.
We hope to run two more middle school tournaments in Sacramento and two more in the Bay Area next semester (working to secure hosts).
