The California Cup is Northern California’s premiere series of academic tournaments held at UC Berkeley, all of them qualifiers to both or either of the two national tournaments (NAQT HSNCT and PACE NSC). Teams win points based on their performances at the four California Cup tournaments that make up the series. Teams are guaranteed at least eight matches (but usually closer to ten) per event! The top three scores will be factored in for each team. The California Cup offers separate JV and Varsity divisions, offering newer teams a fantastic opportunity to play for major prizes, which include trophies, books, plaques, and gift cards! The National Academic Quiz Tournaments (NAQT) State Championship is an event held annually in the Spring semester. This tournament is generally either held at Stanford or Berkeley.
