We are pleased to announce the twelfth annual California Cup tournament series. As in previous years, each Cal Cup tournament will feature 3 divisions: Competitive, Standard, and Novice. We are again offering teams the option to purchase “the package” – the ability to play all four tournaments for the price of three. Teams that expect to play at least three of the Cal Cup tournaments are encouraged to purchase the package. The entry fee/discount amounts remain unchanged from last year.
Here is the tentative Cal Cup schedule:
(1) Cal Cup #1 will take place on Saturday, November 18 online (Discord) – Register here
(2) Cal Cup #2 is scheduled Saturday, February 17 – we are optimistic that this will take place in-person
(3) Cal Cup #3 will take place on Saturday, March 2 at Oakland HS in Oakland
(4) Cal Cup #4 date/location TBA
For Cal Cup #1, we plan to use the SHOW-ME More set for Competitive and Standard; we are using SCOP Novice for Novice. We plan to use NAQT for our next in-person Cal Cup (hopefully #2). We are setting the initial field cap at 12 teams for each division – the field can be found here
We unsuccessfully attempted to host #1 at CSU Maritime Academy in Vallejo – we would like to thank quiz bowl alum Chris for his valiant efforts and we hope to try again next year.
