This event will take place on Saturday, September 27 at Menlo (Private) School in Atherton. As in previous years, we have two divisions: HS Novice and MS (not-novice). The HS division is not an HSNCT qualifier while the MS division is an MSNCT qualifier; middle school participants who are new to quiz bowl may find this event challenging.
Anyone wishing to play in the HS division who has previously played at MSNCT, HSNCT, or PACE NSC needs permission in order to compete -> please write to us at californiacupquizbowl (at) gmail (dot) com for any eligibility questions. There are no eligibility restrictions for teams in the MS division.
Register on the NAQT website here. The initial field cap is 16 for HS and 9 for MS. Each team can consist of up to 6 members.
High school participants who are not eligible to compete are encouraged to help moderate/scorekeep – teams will receive a discount on their entry fee for providing staffers. In addition, please let us know if any of your members are interested in helping out in the control room (learning about tournament logistics/stats).
