Registration is now open for Cal Cup #1, to be held on Saturday, October 27 at St. Francis HS in Mountain View. To register for Cal Cup #1, please fill out this registration form.
Like last year, this competition features three divisions (Competitive, Standard, Novice). Let us know if you are unsure which division your team should play in; we reserve the right to move teams to different divisions. The last day to register is Wednesday, October 24. Teams can drop without penalty by 6PM on Friday, October 26. Send us an email (californiacupquizbowl@gmail.com) if you would like to pay in advance. Please write out any checks to Stanford Quiz Bowl Club (do not write them out to NCQBA or Quiz Bowl Club). Middle School teams are welcome to compete but should be aware that they will be competing against high school teams on high school level questions. Teams can consist of up to 6 players in total.
We are setting an initial field cap of 58 teams: 18 teams in the Competitive division and 20 teams each in Standard and Novice. We may be able to expand later; we have updated the waitlist policies.
We are implementing the following policy for Cal Cup #1: All teams must have a roster submitted by the Cal Cup #1 registration deadline (11:59PM on Oct 24); rosters do not have to be finalized by that time and can be changed after. Teams that do not have any roster indicated by that time will be dropped from the tournament and may not be able to re-enter the field. Teams can update their rosters by emailing us at californiacupquizbowl@gmail.com.
A reminder that only teams that register for the full package (play 4 tournaments for the price of 3) will be eligible for the overall title and prizes awarded at the end of Cal Cup #4. Teams that purchase the package are given priority in case there is a waitlist.
Cal Cup #2 will take place on Saturday, November 17 (location TBA). Cal Cup #2 is the only competition that features NAQT questions (so it is the only Cal Cup tournament that is a qualifier for HSNCT). Registration for Cal Cup #2 will open following the completion of Cal Cup #1.
We have not confirmed the dates for Cal Cup #3 and Cal Cup #4. We have included a couple of questions at the end of the Cal Cup #1 registration form regarding which dates teams prefer for #3 and #4.
Complete details about California Cup can be found here.
